Poor Baby...

Happy Wednesday!

I need to get Aaron to upload some pictures that we have recently taken of Turner so I can update this blog.

Not too much has been happening in the past couple weeks except for Turner being sick. She has had two rounds of pink eye and a cold that just won't go away. I think she is finally on the up swing though. This morning she sounded as good as she has in almost 2 weeks. Feel so sorry for her. Wish there was something more we could do. It just has to work its way out of her system.

She is now in her new classroom at school full time. She is doing so well there! Loves being back with her BFF Avery! She is sitting on the potty more and more at school. Her teachers say she sits on the potty just so she can wash her hands afterwards. She LOVES soap and making bubbles with the water. She is like her mommy...doesn't like to be dirty unless she is eating pasta! She is talking more and more and putting some sentences together. She is learning so much at school. And she LOVES to sing and dance. Once she hears the music, she is dancing away.

Other than being sick, she is just great! Aaron and I are great too...it is just more about her.

We are very excited in a few weeks to be heading up to Detroit to meet her newest cousin, Baby Joe! (and to see Cousin Sarah, Aunt Leslie and Uncle Tony too!). I keep reminding myself that we are going to see them...but why are we going in February????

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Here is a cute video of Turner dancing to Mickey's Clubhouse.

Some pictures of Turner with her new
BIG GIRL POTTY!

We are just trying to get her used to sitting on it first.
Really not getting her to use it yet. She is still a little freaked out by it.
I am sure she will get used to it soon.
But no pressure from us, she is not even two yet!

Not a baby anymore!

So this week has been a big week for Turner (and for Mommy and Daddy too)!

They started transitioning her into the Toddler Room at school. There are some big changes from going from the Beginners Room into the world of the Toddlers.

First one is that before the Beginners would eat all their meals and snacks in their room at their own table. But now in the Toddlers room they eat in the cafeteria. At first Turner was a little unsure, I think mainly because there were a lot of other people in the cafeteria as well. But after Monday, she did great in the cafeteria.

But the biggest change is that they get to sit on the POTTY a few times a day. That is a HUGE thing in her world. Because before Monday, she had never sat on the potty before. She, of course, freaked out at first. First her new teacher tried to make her go into a small room with this thing that kind of looks like a chair but isn't a chair. It can be very scary for a 21 month old. But slowly as the week went on, she got used to the room. And yesterday (Wednesday 1/14), she SAT on the potty TWICE! Didn't do anything on it but she sat on it! Big step in her little world!

It helps that her and her BFF (at school) Avery are back together.

She has been spending half days over there and Friday she will be spending all day there and if she does so well, come Monday she will be there full time.

Since she is now big girl at school, I went a bought her a potty for the house. It's a pretty pink one. Hasn't had a chance to sit on it yet, but I am sure she will this weekend.

So first no more pluggie and now a potty....where has my baby gone???? I know this is harder on me and Aaron than it is on her. We are having so much fun with her right now and she is at such a great age. I just wish time would slow down!!

Operation: Turner UnPlugged

The big news of the weekend is that Turner has been pluggie FREE since Friday morning when she woke up!

She has been so good at school for the past week without it and sometimes not even asking for it. She has been sleeping great during her naps at school without it. So we were just going to experiment on how she would do without it during the night. And it went so MUCH better than we ever thought it would.

Aaron put her to bed on Friday night. He said she asked for "plugo" (21 month old talk for pluggie), and he just ignored her and changed the subject. She whimpered for a little bit but never starting crying and within a couple of minutes she was out and then 12 hours later she woke up. We were both AMAZED! She did so great her first night without it. Saturday nap went just as good...so did Saturday night.

She has only asked for it a hand full of times this weekend but we stayed strong and didn't give in.

It was one of my New Year's resolution to get her off the pacifer and it worked out so much better than I thought. I have heard stories from friends about what they went through so I was a little worried.

I know we are so lucky to have a very easy going child. Let's just hope she stays this way.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

New Year...New Blog!

Welcome to the New Blog for the Atlanta Elya's!

Hi there Family and Friends. It is a New Year and time for a new blog for our little Turner. I know towards the end of the year I wasn't the best at updating the blog (and have been hearing about it from family and friends). Well our current blog expires in February, so I thought this would be the perfect time for a new blog.

Hope everyone had a great holiday season! I know we did. Christmas is so much more special now that Turner is here. Christmas with little ones is wonderful. Just being able to see her excitement with all the trees, lights, presents, music. Her favorite saying that she kept saying over and over when she was opening her presents was "OH Wow!" I know at times she was overwhelmed with all the toys but was definitely having a blast with it. Christmas this year will be even more fun because she will be at a better age to understand everything...especially Santa.
I promise to get better about updating what is going on with her and with us.

Happy New Year!
I will leave you with a few shots from the month of December.

Such a big help with presents - she really knew what they meant
Hanging with Cousin Abby in the cool house that Papa (and Daddy) built

It was great hanging out with Cousin Abby, Aunt Mimi and Go-Go (aka Uncle Doug). Glad they were here to celebrate the holidays with us. The girls had a lot of fun together.
